Le Diagnostic des Anomalies

Je ne peux pas attacher l'infuseur Fizz et la bouteille sur l'appareil car il y a un embout en plastique blanc qui bloque son passage. Que devrais-je faire?

Si vous voyez un embout en plastique blanc qui dépasse et empêche l'infuseur Fizz de glisser dans son adaptateur, placez vos doigts à l'arrière de l'adaptateur noir, appliquez une force pour tirer l'adaptateur vers le bas et vers l'avant à un angle de 45 degrés par rapport à sa position horizontale. (vous entendrez un clic) jusqu'à ce que vous voyiez que l'embout en plastique blanc est caché à l'intérieur. Ensuite, faites glisser l'infuseur Fizz et la bouteille.

Ma boisson a peu ou pas de gazéification. Comment puis-je réparer ça?

  •  Vérifiez si la bouteille de CO2 est vide. Utilisez un tout nouveau cylindre.
  •  Le cylindre peut être trop froid. Attendez que le cylindre atteigne la température ambiante.
  •  La boisson est trop chaude. Utilisez un liquide plus frais, le plus froid sera le mieux.
  •  Vérifiez si la bouteille de CO2 est correctement installée dans le réceptacle. S'il est desserré, il ne     s'activera pas correctement. Serrez à la main.
  •  Le CO2 ne se mélange pas bien avec la boisson. Agitez la bouteille et attendez 10 secondes pour que le CO2 termine le mélange avec la boisson avant de relâcher la pression.
  •  La boisson contient beaucoup de sucre qui a tendance à absorber plus de CO2 que l'eau. Agitez la bouteille avant de relâcher la pression et ajoutez une ou deux bouffées de CO2 supplémentaires.
  •  Tirez sur la gâchette de carbonatation pendant une période plus longue.
  •  Les valves de l'infuseur Fizz peuvent être obstruées ou fuir (vous pouvez entendre un sifflement en cas de fuite) – trempez l'infuseur Fizz dans de l'eau propre pendant 15 minutes ou remplacez-le.

La mousse monte trop rapidement pendant que je gaze ou relâche la pression. Que fais-je?

Chaque boisson moussera différemment. Si de la mousse sort de l'infuseur Fizz lorsque vous relâchez la pression à travers la valve à libération lente, la prochaine fois que vous gazéifierez cette boisson :

  • remplir la bouteille à moitié pour laisser plus de place à la mousse pour monter
  • utiliser des rafales plus courtes
  • attendre plus longtemps entre chaque déclenchement de carbonatation.

Il s'agit d'une machine qui vous permet d'utiliser votre imagination pour concevoir vos propres boissons pétillantes et d'apprendre à préparer des boissons à votre goût. Plus vous l'utilisez, plus vous saurez comment gazéifier vos boissons préférées.

Il est difficile de retirer l'infuseur Fizz de la bouteille après la gazéification.

L'excès de pression de CO2 n'a pas été libéré. Soulevez la languette chromée de libération de la pression sur l'infuseur Fizz et attendez que tout le CO2 en excès soit libéré, ou appuyez sur le bouton bleu de libération rapide pour libérer toute la pression. Ensuite, il s'ouvrira plus facilement.

Mon Drinkmate ne fonctionne pas car la pointe de buse blanche de la machine a été endommagée. Comment puis-je éviter cela?

Assurez-vous de faire glisser l'infuseur Fizz TOUT LE CHEMIN jusqu'à la fin, avant de pousser l'infuseur Fizz vers le bas. Si l'infuseur Fizz n'est qu'à mi-chemin et que vous commencez à pousser l'infuseur Fizz vers sa position perpendiculaire, la pointe blanche sera endommagée par la paroi supérieure de l'infuseur Fizz. Une fois endommagé, le fabricant ne sera pas en mesure d'effectuer une injection de CO2 normale.

Cela arrive très rarement et peut être évité avec un peu de soin et de patience.

    1. Faites glisser l'infuseur Fizz dans TOUT LE CHEMIN, sur un angle de 45 degrés
    2. Poussez ensuite l'infuseur Fizz (avec la bouteille) vers le bas en position perpendiculaire - prêt à injecter du CO2.

What is the difference between the Drinkmate Machine and Drinkmate Spritzer?

Drinkmate is the countertop beverag carbonation system, while Spritzer is for portable use or for consumers who have limited counter space. Both share certain components including the Fizz Infuser, carbonating bottles and CO2 cylinders, and both are able to carbonate any beverage.

What drinks can I carbonate?

In addition to carbonating water, all Drinkmate models give you the freedom to directly sparkle juice, iced tea or coffee, sport drinks, wine, cocktails, even flat soda or beer.

Does Drinkmate offer a warranty?

Yes. Drinkmate comes with a 2-year consumer warranty, and 1 year for commercial use. Drinkmate Spritzer is warranted for 1 year of consumer use, and six months for commercial use.

This warranty is only provided to the original end-user buyer or gift recipient. Please keep your receipt for making any warranty claim. Carbonating bottles and caps are excluded from this warranty.

What is the iSoda brand?

This is the original product line brand from iDrink Products. More recently, we introduced the Drinkmate brand of carbonation machines to replace the iSoda brand. The machines are different, but any iSoda carbonating bottles, 60L and 10L CO2 cylinders can also be used with Drinkmate brand machines. All Drinkmate bottles, 60L and 10L CO2 cylinders can also be used with iSoda machines that don't require 8 mg CO2 cartridges.

CO2 Cylinders

Where can I get replacement CO2 or do an exchange?

  1. Drinkmate has a CO2 exchange program in select brick and mortar stores where you can buy or exchange CO2 cylinders (bring the empty one in exchange for a refilled one for a lower cost). You can also return an emptied 10L (3-oz) CO2 cylinder to exchange for a full size 60L (14.5-oz):
  2. You can also use compatible brands of 60L CO2 cylinders, including SodaStream. You can safely use these CO2 Cylinders without impacting your warranty. Find them at many stores across Canada. 

If you do find your CO2 Cylinders in retail stores, please note that the 130L size cylinders do not fit Drinkmate machines.

Some users try to use other CO2 sources, by using an adapter or converter. We strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this, and accept no responsibility for this type of modified use.

How many bottles can my CO2 cylinder carbonate?

When carbonating water, the 60L cylinder can carbonate up to 60 liters, while the 10L (3-oz) cylinder can carbonate up to 10 liters.

Your drink results can vary, depending on how you use the machine with different beverages, and your desired level of fizziness. We suggest you keep a spare cylinder or two at home so that you can always switch out an empty cylinder for a full one.

Can Drinkmate accept 130L CO2 cylinders?

No, Drinkmate machines do not accept the 130L size. Drinkmate accepts the 60L CO2 Cylinder, which is sold in major chain stores.

What CO2 cylinder options are available for Drinkmate Spritzer?

Spritzers can accept 10L and 60L cylinders, with the 10L as the optimal size for portability. With the 60L size we suggest using Spritzer’s optional accessory stand for countertop use. Using a 60L cylinder, Spritzer can make up to 120 half-liter bottles of sparkling beverages.

Is the CO2 in Drinkmate cylinders safe ?

Yes. Drinkmate uses beverage grade CO2. This meets strict quality requirements, with a tracking/recall system in place if there is ever a problem. So it is 100% guaranteed safe for you to make safe and fizzy, sparkling drinks.

Can I refill the Drinkmate cylinders myself ?

No! iDrink Products urges consumers not to do any unauthorized or third-party filling. Anything other than using approved CO2 supply options is not supported by iDrink Products as we have no control over the quality of CO2 provided, and the cylinder itself could be damaged.

Can I remove the copper valve on the cylinder? What is the little hex bolt on the cylinder?

Only authorized parties should attempt to alter the structure of the valve. Unauthorized tampering of the valve assembly is dangerous and should not be attempted. Tampering with the hex bolt on the side of the cylinder risks disabling the safety function it provides and under no circumstances should a consumer make alterations to this feature.

Can I use a 8g CO2 charger in my Drinkmate machine?

No. 8g CO2 chargers do not work with Drinkmate machines. 8g CO2 chargers are only for handheld soda makers like the iSoda-mini, and they are not refillable.

Fizz Infuser

Why do I hear a hissing sound when I lift the chrome tab on the Fizz Infuser? What is the blue button underneath for?

The chrome tab is for slow pressure release. Once you lift it up, CO2 starts discharging slowly, allowing the beverage to calmly release pressure without over foaming.

The blue button is for much faster pressure release of CO2. Carbonating some beverages, like water, does not require you to wait for the slow release valve to release pressure, and you can use the blue quick release button right away.

Always push the blue button to make sure pressure is completely reduced before removing the Fizz Infuser.

Never try to force the Fizz Infuser off, it might cause a mess if you remove it with pressure still built up inside the bottle.

Why can’t I get the Fizz Infuser and bottle off the Drinkmate machine?

To remove the Fizz Infuser and bottle, tilt the bottom of the bottle forward. Grab the Fizz Infuser or bottle and pull outward and tilt up. The Fizz Infuser fixture on the Drinkmate will rock forward and then easily slide off the appliance.

Should I clean the Fizz Infuser?  How?

The Fizz Infuser should be rinsed with room temperature or warm (not hot) water right after each use of sparkling anything other than water. Flip the slow release valve (chrome tab) up so water can run through the inside.  This is especially important if your drink over foams into the Fizz Infuser. 

We suggest you soak the whole Fizz Infuser in clean water each month for 10 minutes to keep it fully cleaned. Caution: The Fizz Infuser can NOT be washed in a dishwasher.

 

Can I store the Fizz Infuser inside the fridge or freezer?

 

In a word: No! There are many mechanical parts inside the Fizz Infuser, like spring coils and valves. Cold storage of it could cause malfunction of those components and impact their safety performance.

For cold storage of drinks, use the bottle cap provided with each bottle.

The foam level rose up high and came out the top of the Fizz Infuser. Is this a problem? How can I avoid this?

Some beverages, like beer, will foam up much more than others. But over foaming through the Fizz Infuser is not a problem. Just be sure to thoroughly rinse the Fizz Infuser right after this happens.

To avoid this next time, try injecting shorter and fewer bursts of CO2, then shake the bottle before releasing pressure. Shaking it will allow more CO2 to be dissolved into the beverage and lower the pressure.

If the drink then isn’t fizzy enough for you, add some more CO2.

You can control how much CO2 you want to use.

 

Drinkmate Bottles

Are Drinkmate bottles BPA free?

Yes. Drinkmate carbonating bottles are made from BPA (Bisphenol-A) free PET-grade plastic.

Why does the carbonating bottle have an expiration date?

The bottle has to withstand recurring pressure from carbonation. Like any other plastic material, natural aging will degrade its durability against pressure. So as a safety feature, the bottle must be replaced once the expiration date has been reached, or if the bottle has been deformed due to misuse (such as accidentally washing in dishwasher), scratched, or exposed to heat before the expiration date.

The factory puts the same expiration date on each production batch, but those bottles enter into consumer usage over a period of time depending on when they are purchased. Also some bottles will be used heavily and others not so often. If your carbonating bottle appears in good condition, you may use it past the expiration date, but never use it 12 months beyond its expiration date.

Can I store the bottle with carbonated drink in the car on a hot summer day?

There is a maximum storage temperature mark (+ 40C/120F) on each bottle. Never store the bottle above that temperature. It is better to store the bottle at room temperature or in the fridge. The plastic material ages much faster under hot temperature, and downgrades performance. You may have to replace it before the expiration date on the bottle.

Can I use a different brand of carbonating bottle?

No. Drinkmate use a patented quick connect technology that makes it safe and easy to connect and reconnect. Only Drinkmate Products (including our iSoda brand) carbonation bottles will fit Drinkmate products.

How do I clean my carbonating bottle?

Carbonating bottles should be cleaned by hand with room temperature or warm (not hot) water. The bottom cap of the Drinkmate brand carbonation bottles is also removable (by twisting), so you can easily clean all parts of the bottle.

Remember: Drinkmate carbonating bottles can NOT be washed in the dishwasher.

 

Using Drinkmate

Does Drinkmate recommend shaking the bottle after it is removed from the machine?

Yes. After the carbonation process, some CO2 resides in the empty space above the beverage. Shaking will further blend that CO2 with the liquid to achieve higher carbonation. This shaking process should happen after the Fizz Infuser and bottle are removed from the machine, and before you flip the slow release tab.

How many times should I push the carbonation button?

This is up to your personal preference and the type of beverage you are carbonating. By experimenting with different levels of carbonation for different drinks, you’ll find what tastes best to you.

If you prefer maximum fizziness it would be best to carbonate all the way until you hear a whooshing gas release from the Fizz Infuser.

Some beverages are more difficult to carbonate because they produce more foam. With these types of beverages you will want to use slower injection rates by not pushing the carbonation button all the way down, and by doing short bursts rather than just pressing the carbonation button until you hear the release of CO2.

If I keep pushing the carbonating button down for a long time, what will happen?

The Drinkmate Fizz Infuser includes safety valves that are designed to prevent over pressurization. At some point you will hear a whooshing sound of gas escaping. You could continue to press the carbonation button, but it would be a waste of precious CO2. If you feel that the carbonation level is not high enough, then you can remove the Fizz Infuser and bottle from the Drinkmate and shake it while it is still pressurized. This will allow you to increase the carbonation level without using more CO2.

We recommend you use consistent, short pulses of CO2. That will give you a better feel for the optimum level of carbonation for different drinks.

How do I make a sparkling cocktail with Drinkmate?

We are glad you asked! Drinkmate has developed some excellent suggestions for cocktails and other beverage Recipes.

The beauty of the Drinkmate and Spritzer is the complete control you have over carbonation and pressure release while making cocktails or any other cold drink. This allows you to develop your own craft concoctions for your drinking pleasure. Some drinks generate more foam than others, but there is no limit to the possibilities.

How much does it cost to carbonate?

Each 60L (14.5-oz) CO2 Cylinder sparkles up to 60L of beverages. This number can vary depending on the level of carbonation you enjoy in your beverages. If carbonating water only, the cost of making 1L (34 oz) of sparkling water will cost you only about $0.32 after the initial purchase. Drinking home carbonated water will pay off quickly, versus drinking pre-bottled water from the grocery store.

Is there any beverage I can’t carbonate with Drinkmate?

We here at Drinkmate love to say that you can carbonate any beverage. However, we don't super-recommend using Drinkmate for pulped juice, to prevent any potential plugging of the Fizz Infuser.

But with care, it can indeed carbonate drinks that contain pulp or even chunks of fruit. Just make sure that when depressurizing not to allow foaming up to the Fizz Infuser tip. Then after use, soak the whole Fizz Infuser in water to fully clean it out.
